Regular Season Round 8: Herzogenaurach - Ansbach 74-75

Very expected game when 12th ranked Herzogenaurach (1-6) was edged at home by eighth ranked Ansbach (3-4) 75-74 on Saturday. Ansbach dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Herzogenaurach's 24. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St., agency: SportsVision-Service) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Tobias Uebbing (200-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds and guard Daniel Krause (194-88) scored 17 points. Four Herzogenaurach players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ansbach maintains eighth position in South-East with 3-4 record, which they share with Schwabing. Herzogenaurach lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with six games lost. Ansbach will face higher ranked Topstar (#6) in Diedorf in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Herzogenaurach will play on the road against TSV Troester (#5) in Breitenguessbach and hope to win that game.
