Regular Season Round 8: Stahnsdorf - Oldenburg 78-73

There was an upset in Stahnsdorf where higher ranked Oldenburg (3-5) was defeated by twelfth ranked RSV Eintracht (2-6) 78-73 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of American Josh Smith (206-94, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Mike Holton-Jr (185-90, college: St.Michael's) who added 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest. Naturalized Croatian power forward Marko Bacak (211-95) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Bosnian point guard Robert Drijencic (190-96) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Four Oldenburg players scored in double figures. Oldenburg's coach Artur Gacaev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. RSV Eintracht moved-up to tenth place in North, which they share with Itzehoe and Cuxhaven. Loser Oldenburg keeps the eighth position with five games lost. RSV Eintracht will face league's leader Schalke on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
