There was a surprise result in Leverkusen where twelfth ranked Wuerzburg (2-12) beat higher ranked Bayer Giants (6-8) 87-74 on Sunday. Wuerzburg dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Bayer Giants' 26. Center Leon Kratzer (210-97) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Garrett Jackson (201-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 25 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American forward Bruce Beckford (203-94, college: N.Carolina A&T) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Marvin Heckel (190-97) scored 17 points. Five Wuerzburg and four Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. Wuerzburg moved-up to eleventh place in South, which they share with Karlsruhe SC. Loser Bayer Giants keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Wuerzburg will face higher ranked Iserlohn (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
