Regular Season Round 15: Schwelm - Elchingen 70-110

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Schwelm. First ranked Elchingen faced 4th placed SG Schwelmer Baskets. Guests from Elchingen (13-2) smashed host SG Schwelmer Baskets (9-6) 110-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SG Schwelmer Baskets. Elchingen forced 20 SG Schwelmer Baskets turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Elchingen shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-92, college: Miami, OH, agency: Court Side) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Filmore Beck (192-91) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Elchingen players scored in double figures. American guard Chris Hortman (190-88, college: Wisc.-Stout) came up with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Thomas Reuter (198-92, college: E.Washington) added 13 points respectively for SG Schwelmer Baskets in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Elchingen maintains first place in South with 13-2 record. Newly promoted SG Schwelmer Baskets dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Elchingen's next round opponent will be Fraport Skyliners II (#6) in Frankfurt which should be theoretically another easy game. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play on the road against Coburg and hope to win that game.
