Regular Season Round 21: Herford - Ibbenbueren 97-65

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Ibbenbueren (11-9) was smashed on the road by eighth ranked Herford (9-11) 97-65 on Saturday. Herford outrebounded Ibbenbueren 43-27 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for Canadian-British forward Kris Douse (198-86, college: Point Park) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Carlbe Ervin II (190-95, college: Kansas St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Herford players scored in double figures. American guard Denzel Johnson (190, college: Santa Clara) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Dutch center Maikel-Bastiaan Post (207-85) added 10 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Ibbenbueren. Ibbenbueren's coach Christian Beuing gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Herford maintains eighth place in West with 9-11 record. Loser Ibbenbueren keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Herford will face league's leader Muenster on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
