Very predictable result in Athens where third rankedPsychikou (17-9) beat 15th ranked Near East (7-19) 86-79 on Saturday. Psychikou made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Center Georgios Diamantakos (215-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Joe Bryant Jr (185-2000, college: Norfolk St.) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Bryant Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Psychikou players scored in double figures. Power forward Georgios Kalianiotis (200-2002) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ilias Anestis (190-1999) scored 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Psychikou have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-9 record having five points less than leader Megaridas. Newly promoted Near East dropped to the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. They share the position with HANTH.
