Regular Season Round 14: Aris - Iraklis 78-76

The most exciting game of round 14 in the GBL took place in Thessaloniki. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th rankedIraklis (6-7) to eighth ranked Aris (6-7) 78-76 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Iraklis. Aris made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Iraklis turnovers. Strangely Iraklis outrebounded Aris 43-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Iraklis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Bryce Jones (183-1994, college: Murray St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 assists. Serbian Danilo Andjusic (195-1991) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Aris players scored in double figures. Aris' coach Igor Milicic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Justin Wright-Foreman (183-1997, college: Hofstra) replied with 27 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward DJ Funderburk (208-1997, college: NC State) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Iraklis. Aris moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Iraklis .
