Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens:Panathinaikos (#2) and Panionios (#11). Panionios was smashed at home by 16 points 68-84 . American-North Macedonian point guard TJ Shorts (175-1997, college: UC Davis) scored 11 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Nikolaos Rogkavopoulos (201-2001) chipped in 10 points during the contest. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American-Georgian guard Joe Thomasson (193-1993, college: Wright St., agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Matt Lewis (192-1998, college: JMU) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos maintains second position with 17-4 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos. Panionios lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Karditsas.
