Regular Season Round 13: Fjolnir - KR 65-104

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik:KR (#2) and Fjolnir (#3). Fjolnir was crushed at home by 39 points 65-104 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fjolnir. The game without a history. KR led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Fjolnir 's 30. KR forced 27 Fjolnir turnovers and outrebounded them 44-33 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Rebekka Steingrimsdottir (173-2008) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American power forward Cheah Rael-Whitsitt (180-1998, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Five KR players scored in double figures. KR's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Arna Eythorsdottir (176-2009) answered with 11 points and 8 rebounds and forward Adalheidur Davidsdottir (181-2009) added 16 points in the effort for Fjolnir. KR (11-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place behind leader Armann. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost.
