Regular Season Round 2: Armann - KR 89-115

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik:KR and Armann . Armann was smashed at home by 26 points 89-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Armann managed to win fourth quarter 27-26 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KR dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Armann 's 44. They outrebounded Armann 46-26 including 33 on the defensive glass. KR looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Latvian Linards Jaunzems (200-1995) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Thorir Thorbjarnarson (198-1998, college: Nebraska, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Guard Bragi Gudmundsson (196-2003, college: Campbell, agency: One Motive Sports) responded with 21 points and 8 assists and Slovakian forward Marek Dolezaj (208-1998, college: Syracuse, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five KR and four Armann players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
