No shocking result in a game when fourth rankedValur (10-5) beat 10th ranked Thor Thorl (4-11) in Reykjavik 80-71 on Thursday. Valur dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Thor Thorl 's 28. Strangely Thor Thorl outrebounded Valur 52-40 including 38 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Kari Jonsson (192-1997, college: Drexel) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Kristofer Acox (198-1993, college: Furman) accounted for 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Serbian forward Lazar Lugic (208-1998) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Greek point guard Rafail Lanaras (196-2001) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Thor Thorl in the defeat. Four Valur and five Thor Thorl players scored in double figures. Valur moved-up to third place, which they share with Stjarnan. Thor Thorl lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Armann.
