There was no surprise when 16th rankedH.Safed Galil (2-19) was outplayed at home by second ranked M.Rehovot (17-4) 99-74 on Tuesday. M.Rehovot dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to H.Safed Galil 's 38. They outrebounded H.Safed Galil 46-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. M.Rehovot looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Derrick Walker (206-1997, college: Nebraska, agency: Diamond Sports) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Guard Amit Menachem (184-2004) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four M.Rehovot players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ty-Shon Alexander (193-1998, college: Creighton) who recorded 20 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Kevin Obanor (203-1999, college: Texas Tech) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for M.Rehovot . They maintain second place with 17-4 record having just three points less than leader H.Eilat. H.Safed Galil lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 19 games lost.
