Top ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (24-2) recorded its second loss in Tel Aviv on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (22-4) 115-97. It ended at the same time the 19-game winning streak of Maccabi Tel-Aviv. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. H.Tel-Aviv looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by M.Tel-Aviv's players. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Yam Madar (190-2000) who scored 41 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Armenian-American point guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's coach Dimitris Itoudis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Roman Sorkin (209-1996, college: Oregon) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and French-American Jaylen Hoard (204-1999, college: Wake Forest) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four H.Tel-Aviv and five M.Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have a solid series of three victories in a row. H.Tel-Aviv maintains second place with 22-4 record having just two points less than leader M.Tel-Aviv. M.Tel-Aviv at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost.
