Very expected game when 5th ranked Trieste (11-6) was defeated on the road by first ranked Udine (15-2) 58-48 on Saturday. Udine outrebounded Trieste 43-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. Forward Carlotta Gianolla (185-1997, college: KSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Alice Gregori (181-2000) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Costanza Miccoli (185-1995) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Giorgia Sammartini (175-2001) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Udine. They maintain first place with 15-2 record, which they share with Valdarno. Loser Trieste dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Ragusa. Udine will meet Rovigo (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Trieste will play against Ragusa (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
