The biggest surprise of round 17 in Serie A2 was guestSan Salvatore 's (#7) road victory over Broni (#8) 49-48 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Swiss forward Lea Favre (184-1997, college: Rider) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Senegalese forward Aida Thiam (187-2002) chipped in 5 points and 9 rebounds. Francesca Russo (178-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Canadian forward Christina Morra (188-2000, college: Wake Forest) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. San Salvatore maintains seventh place with 8-9 record, which they share with Bolzano BC and Vicenza. Broni at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with La Spezia and Salerno. San Salvatore is looking forward to face Moncalieri (#11) at home in the next round. Broni will play against the league's leader Valdarno and will have a slim chance for a victory.
