Everything went according to plan when tenth rankedMonferrato (19-15) beat on the road 20th ranked Saronno (6-28) 97-92 on Friday. Monferrato made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-1989) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Naturalized American Dalton Pepper (197-1990, college: Temple, agency: SLN) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Andrea Quinti (200-2001) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Gabriele Pellegrini (197-2002) added 21 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Monferrato have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Jesi and Agrigento. Saronno lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twentieth position with 28 games lost. They share it with Rieti.
