There was no surprise when 18th rankedCassino (10-26) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked Salerno (15-21) 84-78 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Salerno made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Cassino only scored thirteen points from the stripe. The winners were led by power forward Ferdinando Matrone (208-1995, agency: SLN) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Manuel Saladini (182-2002) supported him with 22 points and 4 assists. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by Alessandro Riva (205-1998) did not help to save the game for Cassino . Gianmarco Conte (191-1997) added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Cassino players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salerno maintains fourteenth position with 15-21 record, which they share with Imola ACosta. Cassino lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth place with 26 games lost. They share the position with Latina and Fiorenzuola.
