There was a small surprise when eleventh rankedVicenza (19-17) won against 8th ranked Monferrato (20-16) in Casale 83-77 on Sunday. The winners were led by guard Giovanni Gasparin (190-1991, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Mattia Da Campo (198-1997, college: Seattle) supported him with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds by the former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-1989) did not help to save the game for Monferrato . Swingman Simone Vecerina (196-1999) added 13 points and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Four Monferrato players scored in double figures. Vicenza have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Monferrato keeps the eighth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Agrigento.
