There was a minor upset whenCosta Masnaga was crushed on the road by Livorno 94-65 on Saturday. Livorno dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Costa Masnaga 's 30. Livorno forced 22 Costa Masnaga turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Allegra Botteghi (182-1995, college: Providence) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Portuguese center Carolina Cruz (195-2001, college: Manhattan) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Livorno players scored in double figures. German forward Patricia Brossmann (185-1997, college: San Diego) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Colombian forward Marta Moscarella (185-2007) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Livorno will meet at home San Salvatore in the next round. Costa Masnaga will play against Empoli and hope to win that game.
