There was no surprise when 5th rankedTortona (6-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked Virtus Bologna (9-1) 92-77 on Monday. Virtus dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tortona 's 24. Virtus looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. International forward Saliou Niang (200-2004) fired 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international center Mouhamet Diouf (208-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Five Virtus Bologna players scored in double figures. Polish center Dominik Olejniczak (213-1996, college: FSU) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and American-Armenian guard Christian Vital (188-1997, college: UConn) added 14 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Virtus Bologna have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Trapani and Brescia. Loser Tortona keeps the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Milano.
