Regular Season Round 29: Mestre - Pistoia 90-85

There was no surprise when 18th rankedPistoia (7-21) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked Mestre (12-16) 90-85 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mestre shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American Wayne Stewart Jr (201-1996, college: ETAMU) nailed a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Seneca Knight (198-2000, college: Illinois St.) accounted for 24 points. Four Mestre players scored in double figures. Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (207-1991) came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Filippo Gallo (195-2004) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for Pistoia in the defeat. Pistoia's coach Stefano Sacripanti tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mestre moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Milano Urania. Loser Pistoia keeps the eighteenth position with 21 games lost.
