Regular Season Round 32: Akademija - Delikatesas 77-70

An interesting game took place in Vilnius where 11th ranked Delikatesas (10-20) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked Akademija (8-22) 77-70 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Delikatesas. Delikatesas trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 28-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 70-77 at the end of the game. Akademija forced 25 Delikatesas turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Karolis Alekna (183-91) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds and center Egidijus Mockevicius (204-92) who added 13 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Akademija's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Vytautas-Edvardas Pikalavicius (196-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and center Julius Jucikas (205-89) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Four Delikatesas players scored in double figures. Akademija maintains fourteenth position with 8-22 record. Loser Delikatesas dropped to the twelfth place with 20 games lost. Akademija will face higher ranked Erelita-KTU (#11) in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
