Regular Season Round 7: Zalgiris - Nevezis 79-52

The game between third ranked Zalgiris (5-1) and 8th ranked Nevezis (2-6) in Kaunas on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Zalgiris outscored guests from Kedainiai 79-52. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 28. They outrebounded Nevezis 40-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American James Anderson (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (195-89) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Zalgiris' coach Gintaras Krapikas felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. American forward Thomas Davis (200-91, college: SW Oklahoma St.) answered with 16 points and the other American import guard Rod Camphor (190-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Nevezis. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Zalgiris. Defending champion maintains third place with 5-1 record behind leader Lietuvos rytas. Loser Nevezis dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Zalgiris will face league's leader Lietuvos rytas in Vilnius in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nevezis will play on the road against Juventus (#4) in Utena and hope to win that game.
