LKL top team - Zalgiris (18-1) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat fifth ranked Siauliai (9-9) in Kaunas 80-71. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 44-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zalgiris outrebounded Siauliai 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American James Anderson (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. Guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) helped adding 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-1 record. Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Zalgiris are looking forward to face Lietuvos rytas (#3) in Vilnius in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Siauliai will play at home against Juventus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
