Regular Season Round 6: Lietuvos rytas - Nevezis 116-54

LKL top team - Lietuvos rytas (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Nevezis (1-4) in Vilnius 116-54. The game without a history. Lietuvos rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 30 and had 26 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Nevezis only scored six points from the stripe. Lietuvos rytas forced 19 Nevezis turnovers and outrebounded them 44-27 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lietuvos rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Nevezis' players. International center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) notched 28 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and international Adas Juskevicius (194-89) supported him with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by American-Liberian point guard Saah Nimley (173-93, college: Charleston So.) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos rytas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record, which they share with Zalgiris. Loser Nevezis dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with Siauliai and Dzukija. Lietuvos rytas will meet league's second-placed Zalgiris in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nevezis will play against Dzukija (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
