Second Stage Round 3: Lietkabelis-2 - Rasai 85-82

Bottom-ranked Lietkabelis-2 managed to get a fifth victory. This time newly promoted Lietkabelis-2 edged eleventh-ranked Rasai in Panevezys 85-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rasai. Rasai was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 23-19 charge of Lietkabelis-2, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 25 Rasai turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Rasai was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Benas Bagdonavicius (202-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Darius Marcinkevicius (201-91) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Valdemaras Savostjanovas (200-84) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Rasai. Four Lietkabelis-2 and five Rasai players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Lietkabelis-2 maintains fourteenth place with 5-24 record. Rasai at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Ezerunas-Karys. Lietkabelis-2 will play against higher ranked Delikatesas (#11) in Joniskis in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rasai will play at home against Ezerunas-Karys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
