Regular Season Round 21: Silute - Taurages 74-71

Seventh-ranked Taurages (10-11) gave a tough game to third ranked Silute (16-5) on Friday. Silute managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Taurages. Silute forced 22 Taurages turnovers. Strangely Taurages outrebounded Silute 43-25 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Taurages helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Taurantas Tamosiunas (192-92) stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and Justas Nausedas (193-92) chipped in 17 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was point guard Aivaras Kvedaravicius (185-88) with 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Liudas Valantinas (191-88) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Silute have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga. Newly promoted Taurages keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Jonava. Silute is looking forward to face Ezerunas (#9) in Moletai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Taurages will play on the road against Telsiai in Telsiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
