Regular Season Round 5: Zalgiris - Perkunas 86-70

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: Zalgiris I (#8) and Perkunas (#4). Zalgiris I (3-2) crushed visiting Perkunas (3-2) by 16 points 86-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perkunas. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-70. Zalgiris I outrebounded Perkunas 54-32 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Martynas Jakstys (190-2005) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Tomas Stankevicius (-2005) contributed with 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Zalgiris I players scored in double figures. Martynas Mejaras (-2005) answered with 28 points and 4 assists and Simas Sliogeris (-2005) added 8 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Perkunas. Zalgiris I moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Perkunas. Zalgiris I's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris II.
