There was no surprise when 12th ranked VK-Kamane (1-13) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Vilniaus univ. (10-3) 87-58 on Wednesday. Vilniaus univ. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to VK-Kamane's 22. They outrebounded VK-Kamane 52-37 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Vilniaus univ. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by VK-Kamane's players. Forward Giedre Ulyte (178-1996) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Ieva Savickaite (191-1996) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Coach Loreta Berukstiene's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Olga Fomina (164-1989) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and forward Viktorija Matuleviciute (180-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vilniaus univ. maintains fourth position with 10-3 record. VK-Kamane lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 13 games lost. Vilniaus univ. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. VK-Kamane will play against the league's leader Alytaus (#1) and hope to win that game.
