There was an upset when 4th placedPoznan (12-7) lost to ninth ranked Polonia W-wa (8-11) in Warszawa 61-74 on Wednesday. Strangely Poznan outrebounded Polonia W-wa 48-31 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Chellia Watson (173-2001, college: Buffalo, agency: Next Page Sports) who led the winners and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Her fellow American import Erika Davenport (182-1997, college: Marquette) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. American power forward Jessika Carter (196-1999, college: MSU) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and Serbian point guard Jovana Popovic (173-1990) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Poznan in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Polonia W-wa moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Gdynia and Wisla. Loser Poznan keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Polonia W-wa will meet higher ranked Wroclaw (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Poznan will play against Bochnia and hope to secure a win.
