Rather expected game when 14th ranked Sampaense (4-6) lost to twelfth ranked Barreirense (6-4) in Barreiro 58-64 on Sunday. Barreirense outrebounded Sampaense 38-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Guard Alexandre Coelho (178-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Cape Verdean forward Kevin Coronel (197-91) contributed with 8 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American guard Timothy Lucas (191-87, college: William Pater.) answered with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and power forward Helder Carvalho (205-84, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sampaense. Barreirense moved-up to tenth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Esgueira and Belenenses CF. Loser Sampaense keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. Barreirense will face Esgueira / Oli (#10) at home in the next round. Sampaense will play against Estoril Basket (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
