Sangalhos (#7) forced the game against Vasco (#6) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 73-80 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Sangalhos. But the guests from Porto were better at the end. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 18-15 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 7-point victory in overtime. Sangalhos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Miguel Toreia (180-93) stepped up and scored 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and swingman Fabio Bem (188-85) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and guard Andre Duarte (178-81) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Four Sangalhos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vasco maintains sixth place with 5-10 record. Loser Sangalhos keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Vasco will face higher ranked Benfica B (#4) in Lisboa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sangalhos will play at home against Dragon Force and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
