The game in Ovarense was also quite interesting. Third ranked Benfica (11-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Ovarense (6-8). Benfica managed to secure a 9-point victory 83-74 on Sunday. The former international forward Carlos Andrade (197-78, college: Queens, NC) notched 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) supported him with 17 points. Five Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by American point guard Nick Novak (182-90, college: Pitt-Johnstown, agency: Dynamics Global Management) did not help to save the game for Ovarense. Austrian-American forward Bryce Douvier (201-91, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the hosts. Benfica keeps a position of league leader, which they share with FC Porto and Galitos-Barreiro. Loser Ovarense keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. Benfica will meet at home Maia Basket (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ovarense will play against Lusitania in Angra and hope to secure a win.
