Very predictable result when leader Benfica (9-0) rolled over 10th ranked Electrico FC (2-7) in Ponte de Sor 99-78 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Benfica. Electrico FC was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international swingman Jose Silva (194-89) who helped to win the game recording 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International forward Joao Soares (202-90, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Brian Stone (203-94, college: Malone) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and guard Tiago Pinto (187-88) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Electrico FC. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Benfica. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Electrico FC lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Benfica will face bottom-ranked Barreirense (#12) in Barreiro in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Electrico FC will play on the road against FC Porto Ferpinta and hope to win that game.
