Rather expected game in Aveiro where bottom-ranked Beira Mar (0-8) was crushed by sixth ranked Sanjoanense (4-4) 63-41 on Friday. The game without a history. Sanjoanense led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Beira Mar to just 6 points in third quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish power forward Sergi Coll (204-82) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) who added 23 points during the contest. Guard Goncalo Catarino (173-94) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Andre Jackson (198, college: Bowie St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Beira Mar's coach Carlos Cabral gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sanjoanense moved-up to fourth place in North. Newly promoted Beira Mar still closes the standings with eight games lost. Sanjoanense will face higher ranked Sampaense (#3) in Coimbra in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Beira Mar will play on the road against Academico FC (#7) in Porto and hopes to get finally their first victory.
