Very predictable result when fourth ranked Ploiesti (4-1) outscored at home 9th ranked Timba Timosoara (1-3) 87-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ploiesti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Ploiesti looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Ghanian guard Alhaji Mohammed (192-81, college: Louisville) who scored 21 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Four Ploiesti players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Danilo Mijatovic (207-83) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian-Bosnian power forward Jozo Brkic (211-86, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Timba Timosoara at the other side dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Ploiesti will face CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Timba Timosoara will play against Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
