Regular Season Round 8: Samorin - Kosice 53-52

A very close game took place in Samorin between Samorin and Kosice. Seventh ranked Samorin (3-5) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Kosice (1-7). Samorin managed to escape with a 1-point win 53-52 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Ukrainian Daria Kononuchenko (187-2004) who scored that evening 10 points and 9 rebounds and Ukrainian point guard Karyna Panchuk (176-2004) supported her with 16 points and 4 steals. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by Swiss guard Evita Herminjard (175-1998) did not help to save the game for Kosice. International Alexandra Buknova (177-1999) added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Samorin moved-up to sixth place, which they share with B.Bystrica. Loser Kosice dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Samorin will meet higher ranked Ruzomberok (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kosice will play against Trencin (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
