Important game to mention about took place in Las Palmas. Fifteenth ranked Ensino (7-14) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Gran Canaria (9-12) 63-62 on Sunday evening. Ensino forced 25 Gran Canaria turnovers. American forward Lydia Giomi (198-1997, college: Oregon) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Claudia Soriano (170-2003, college: Northeastern) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American-Nigerian center Nneka Ezeigbo (188-1998, college: RMU) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds and Croatian guard Karla Erjavec (178-1999, college: Miami, FL) scored 21 points. Ensino moved-up to eleventh place. Gran Canaria lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. Ensino will play against higher ranked Ferrol (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gran Canaria will play against Joventut in Badalona and hopes to get back on the winning track.
