Regular Season Round 20: Marbella - Fuengirola 79-65
Date: March 8, 2025
There was no surprise when 7th rankedFuengirola (7-12) lost on the road to third ranked Marbella (13-6) 79-65 on Saturday. Marbella outrebounded Fuengirola 39-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American-Italian power forward Christopher Mortellaro (208-1982, college: Drury, agency: BIG) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Pedro Lopez (187-2000) supported him with 13 points and 6 assists. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by Rafael Vidales (191-2003) did not help to save the game for Fuengirola . Forward Daniel Terron (191-1998) added 11 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marbella maintains third position with 13-6 record having 10 victories less than leader Gijon Circulo, which they share with Azulejos. Fuengirola lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Unicaja-Andalucia. Marbella will meet Unicaja-Andalucia (#7) in the next round. Fuengirola will play against La Zubia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
