No shocking result in a game when eighth rankedGran Canaria (13-11) beat on the road 16th ranked Basquet Girona (8-16) 95-86 on Saturday. Gran Canaria looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Argentinian Nicolas Brussino (205-1993) who scored that evening 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Georgian guard Joe Thomasson (193-1993, college: Wright St., agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 16 points and 5 assists. Even 18 points by the former international swingman Josep Busquets (201-1999) did not help to save the game for Girona . Argentinian guard Juan Ignacio Marcos (188-2000) added 14 points and 5 assists. Four Gran Canaria and five Girona players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Manresa. Loser Basquet Girona dropped to the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Andorra and Lleida.
