There was a small surprise when twelfth rankedGipuzkoa (10-16) won against 10th ranked Zamora (10-16) in San Sebastian 86-78 on Sunday. Gipuzkoa outrebounded Zamora 42-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Power forward Javier Nicolau (208-1997, college: UMC) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Argentinian-Italian guard Mateo Diaz (186-2002) supported him with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 12 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Kevin Buckingham (198-1997, college: SE Oklahoma) did not help to save the game for Zamora . His fellow American import point guard Jordan Walker (186-1997, college: Morehead St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 11 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gipuzkoa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Zamora and Oviedo. Zamora lost third consecutive game.
