Regular Season Round 23: Genero - Almeda 72-65

Not a big story in a game in Las Palmas where 11th ranked Almeda (7-15) was defeated by ninth ranked Genero (11-12) 72-65 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Iranzu Drake (-1986) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 4 steals. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-1988) helped adding 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Genero players scored in double figures. Carlota Diaz-Guerra (-2003) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Belen Armengol (170-1992) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Almeda's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Genero have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Andratx and Mostoles. Loser Almeda keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Genero will meet at home Mostoles (#7) in the next round. Almeda's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona Viladecans.
