Regular Season Round 23: Sanfer - GEIG 61-44

There was a surprise result in Aviles where twelfth ranked Sanfer (7-16) beat higher ranked GEIG (13-10) 61-44 on Sunday. Sanfer outrebounded GEIG 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Sara Fraile (-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points. Ana Fernandez (175-1993, college: Canisius) helped adding 5 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Alba Coma (177-1999) responded with 13 points and forward Vanessa Gonzalez (184-1994) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sanfer maintains twelfth place with 7-16 record. Loser GEIG keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Sanfer will meet higher ranked Leon (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GEIG will play against Aranguren and hope to secure a win.
