An interesting game forLeganes (25-3) which hosted in Leganes second-ranked Estepona (23-5). First ranked Leganes managed to get a 4-point victory 64-60 . It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Estepona. Leganes forced 21 Estepona turnovers. Estepona was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Maria Barneda (177-1998) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and Mali forward Aminata Sangare (186-2002) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Leganes players scored in double figures. American power forward Ruth Sherrill (188-1994, college: Temple) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Marina Gea (172-2001) scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leganes have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 25-3 record. Estepona at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Leganes will play against Melilla (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Estepona's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Malaga Unicaja.
