We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th rankedJoventut (3-2) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Gernika (3-2) 80-64 on Sunday. Gernika made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Gernika outrebounded Joventut 46-27 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. German forward Emily Bessoir (193-2001, college: UCLA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and American forward Joy Adams (180-1993, college: Iona) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Gernika players scored in double figures. American guard Laura Howard (178-1995, college: USF) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and American-Nigerian center Lauren Ebo (193-2000, college: Notre Dame) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Joventut's coach Jordi Vizcaino rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gernika moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Joventut.
