The game had a very big importance for second-rankedTenerife as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Valencia) loss. Tenerife defeated 15th ranked Burgos at home 101-97 . Tenerife made 30-of-36 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Burgos SP was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-1983) notched 28 points and 9 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (216-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 24 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by Panamanian-Puerto Rican point guard Jhivvan Jackson (182-1998, college: UTSA) did not help to save the game for Burgos SP . Brazilian point guard Raul Neto (185-1992) added 14 points. Five Tenerife and four Burgos SP players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Burgos SP lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventeenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Granada.
