Regular Season Round 7: Valencia - Tenerife 96-79

The biggest surprise took place in Valencia where host Valencia (6-1) beat league's leader Tenerife (5-2) 96-79 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Valencia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Tenerife's 26. American Kameron Taylor (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) fired 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Dominican point guard Jean Montero (188-2003) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-1983) produced 13 points and 5 assists and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (216-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Valencia and five Tenerife players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid. Tenerife at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Joventut and Murcia. They were replaced at the leadership position by Real Madrid. Tenerife will play next round against Zaragoza trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Valencia will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Girona at home.
