Regular Season Round 9: Avenida - Valencia 58-57

LF Endesa round 9 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leaderValencia (7-2) against sixth ranked Avenida (6-3) 58-57 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Valencia. It was a good game for Iyana Martin who saved her team from a defeat with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Italian swingman Laura Spreafico (183-1991) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Avenida's coach Anna Montanana used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international Maria Araujo (188-1997) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and German forward Leonie Fiebich (193-2000) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Valencia. Avenida have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ensino. Defending champion Valencia dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with IDK Euskotren. They were replaced at the leadership position by Zaragoza. Valencia will play next round against Gran Canaria trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Avenida will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Zaragoza on the road.
