There was no surprise when 15th rankedGran Canaria (2-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Valencia (8-2) 83-66 on Sunday. Valencia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international guard Leticia Romero (173-1995, college: FSU) fired 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international Maria Araujo (188-1997) chipped in 5 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. French power forward Axelle Merceron (189-2003) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Claudia Contell (177-2003) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 8-2 record behind leader Zaragoza. Loser Gran Canaria keeps the fifteenth place with eight games lost.
