There was a minor upset in Las Palmas where 11th rankedGran Canaria (6-9) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Lleida (7-9) 68-50 on Saturday. Lleida had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard James Batemon (185-1997, college: LMU) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 4 assists and Canadian-Nigerian forward Melvin Ejim (201-1991, college: Iowa St.) who added 9 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side French power forward Pierre Pelos (205-1992) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Colombian swingman Braian Angola-Rodas (198-1994, college: FSU) scored 10 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lleida moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Rio Breogan and Girona. Loser Gran Canaria dropped to the thirteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Zaragoza.
